Magnets of this type are used in the wheel on Ex to provide information on how much fishing line has been released. Most Ex have wheels with 3 magnets mounted on the inside of the wheel, which means that the wheel gives 3 pulses per rotated revolution. This gives a resolution on the line between 136mm line per pulse (or 7.3 pulses per meter) or 230mm line per pulse (4.3 pulses more meters). The variation is due to the fact that the resolution is higher at the bottom of the wheel, and lower when the wheel is full. On average, the resolution is 183mm line per pulse, which gives 5.45 pulses per meter. If more magnets are mounted in the wheel, eg 6 pcs, the precision is doubled, and so on. The formula for the higher resolution is 408/no of magnets=mm line between pulses. The lower is 691/no of magnets=mm line between pulses. Average formula is 575/no of magnets=mm line between pulses.
